Ford uses fNIR Systems to test driving performance

fNIR systems, driving, experiment, studyFord ran an experiment in which it used fNIR devices to monitor individual’s driving performance. The drivers were then given a score and provided insights into how their driving could be improved, via an app.

Ford ran the study for four months using 40 Ford Fiestas and encompassed various types of weather, time of day, and road history. This experiment is part of a larger effort to understand driver behavior by the aptly named Driver Behaviour Project. They will also be running another study researching driver stress and how driving affects the physical and emotional states of drivers.
