HRV | Frequency Domain Measures
Presenters: Sanjay Sood, Ph.D., and Alex Dimov

Spectral analysis of HRV is a noninvasive and user-friendly tool for evaluating cardiac autonomic activity that allows researchers to detect any periodicities in their data. Generally, two frequency domains are commonly used. The first is low frequency (LF), which corresponds to both sympathetic and vagal influences. The second is high frequency (HF), which reflects vagal tone. The balance of sympathetic and parasympathetic tones can be represented by LF/HF as well. This analysis assists those studying autonomic functions in normal subjects following various interventions, autonomic dysfunctions, and prognosis.

You will learn about HRV Frequency domain information:

  • Introduction to HRV
  • Theory and guidelines
  • Recording great ECG data
  • Preparing data for analysis
  • Low Frequency (LF) & High Frequency (HF) measures
  • Single-epoch spectral HRV analysis
  • Multi-epoch spectral HRV analysis
  • Automation with scripting and Workflow
  • Focus Areas and event-based analysis
